Giving offers an individual the opportunity to make a charitable contribution to the North Carolina Lions Foundation, Inc. and receive a charitable tax deduction. Your gift will benefit the thousands of visually impaired individuals served by the North Carolina Lions Foundation, Inc. Whether it is a support or mobility cane, a week at Camp Dogwood, an eye exam, new glasses, or surgery; thousands of individuals benefit from the programs and services provided through the NC Lions Foundation, Inc.

Types of Charitable Donations

Estate Giving Through Wills or Trusts
A will or living trust is a statement about what matters most in your life. By establishing a will or living trust, you make your intentions clear, and ensure they will be followed by those administering your estate. When you name North Carolina Lions Foundation, Inc. in your estate plans, you will be an example to others in your community and your gifts will be part of your legacy.

Sample bequest language:

“We (I) give, devise, and bequeath the sum of __________________ dollars ($__________) to North Carolina Lions Foundation, Inc. located at Sherrills Ford, North Carolina to be used to support the highest priority projects approved by the North Carolina Lions Foundation, Inc. Board.”

Retirement Plan Beneficiary Designation(s)
Tax-deferred retirement plan assets are great sources of retirement income but are not always a good choice for making gifts to heirs. However, using retirement plan assets to make a significant and meaningful gift to North Carolina Lions Foundation, Inc. can be a tax-smart strategy for supporting both North Carolina Lions Foundation, Inc. and loved ones.

Life Insurance Beneficiary Designation(s)
Life insurance can be a tool with many purposes – it can provide liquidity for paying taxes and other expenses at death, or providing a tax free gift to loved ones. Life insurance can also be used to benefit NC Lions Foundation, Inc. if listed as a beneficiary.

Gift Vehicles Providing Income to You or Your Heirs

Charitable Gift Annuity
A charitable gift annuity is a contract between NC Lions Foundation Inc. and you. This contract allows you to make a generous gift to NC Lions Foundation, Inc. while also providing a guaranteed income stream to you, or to you and another person for life. At the death of the final income beneficiary, the residual passes to NC Lions Foundation, Inc. to be used for the purpose you designate.

Charitable Remainder Trust
A charitable remainder trust is a gift arrangement defined by federal tax law that allows you to provide income to yourself or other for life or a term of years while making a generous gift to NC Lions Foundation, Inc.

Charitable Lead Trust
A charitable lead trust is a trust that you establish either during life or at death that pays it income to the NC Lions Foundation, Inc. typically for a stated number of years. After the trust terminates the assets inside the trust are then distributed – either back to you or to your heirs.
